National News : Tibetan Buddhism with acclaimed master His Eminence Dzogchen Rinpoche

Open in new windowShenpen Australia is delighted to announce the 2010 visit of His Eminence Dzogchen Rinpoche.

Public Talk - Wednesday 29th September
Why the Mind Experiences Hope and Doubt

Often we hope for permanence in situations where we should accept the inevitability of change and loss. We are encouraged to doubt what we can actually rely on and have faith in. Hope and doubt are two of the three emotions that create instability in our trust and inner-confidence. During this public talk Dzogchen Rinpoche will explain why we are constantly fooled by our emotions and that only when we learn how not to take them too seriously, can we experience genuine happiness and peace. Payneham Library Complex, 2 Turner Street, Felixtow, SA 5070
Doors open 7.00pm, talk begins 7.30pm
Tickets: $20.00 ($15.00 concession)

Three-Day Dzogchen Retreat
Thurs 30th Sept - Sun 3rd Oct - Mylor SA
How to Recognise and Overcome Hope and Fear

In Tibetan Buddhism hope and fear are regarded as internal enemies which prevent us from resting our mind. Based in attachment, one of the three poisons, they are like thieves that deceive us and steal our inner peace. Unable to satisfy our desires, we are like fish drawn to the bait on a fisherman’s hook. Only when we recognise and overcome our hope and fear, can we truly rest. During this retreat Dzogchen Rinpoche will explain how we can realise this stability within ourselves.

Greetings everyone. First I would like to say what an honour it is to be here today in this position. I have been Chair since June last year and it has been a considerable learning experience for me. I joined the BCSA initially to meet more Buddhists and to take refuge in the community of the wise. So I have well and truly achieved my aim. I have had the privilege of working with a truly wise and wonderful group of people.....
