Buddhist Council News : Annual Report from BCSA Chair (08-09)

Greetings and welcome to all of you.

I want to begin by saying that I have thoroughly enjoyed being a part of the Buddhist Council of South Australia this year. The year has felt very productive, full of interesting events, issues and discussions. Our meetings are always lively and amicable and it is a privilege to work with such committed and dedicated people.

Member News : Retreat Houses at De-Tong Ling Retreat Center
Member News

Situated on the western end of Kangaroo Island, South Australia, De-Tong Ling Retreat Center offers ideal conditions for solitary, long or short term meditation retreat.

The center has five fully self-contained retreat houses set in pristine bush-land and available for rent at a modest fee. No retreat house is visible from any other. Each is powered by solar panels and gas, and supplied with clean, pure water. The retreat houses have running hot and cold water, showers, flushing toilets, a kitchen/living area, sleeping area and a separate meditation room.

Services are provided by residents on adjoining Yacca Creeks, a lay area reserved for non retreat activity. These include shopping, food delivery, gas bottle and fire wood delivery, and a message service for people in retreat and their retreat supervisors.

Anna Markey - Ashtree Sangha - Chair of the BCSA

Greetings everyone. First I would like to say what an honour it is to be here today in this position. I have been Chair since June last year and it has been a considerable learning experience for me. I joined the BCSA initially to meet more Buddhists and to take refuge in the community of the wise. So I have well and truly achieved my aim. I have had the privilege of working with a truly wise and wonderful group of people.....
